In the Netherlands, more than 63,000 Dutch people live with Parkinson's disease, an incurable condition whose symptoms are getting worse. Feeling free to move is not always obvious when you have Parkinson's disease. Exercising a lot slows down the development of the disease, but there is a chance that the body will 'freeze' for a few seconds to minutes while walking. Often resulting in falls, insecurity and a more passive lifestyle. In collaboration with healthcare professionals and patients, Cue2Walk developed a smart, wearable device that helps prevent such a 'freeze of gait' and thus increases the self-reliance and quality of life of PwPs.
