Healthcare technology can be helpful for many people. Whether you have a disability or need help because you are getting older. Technology can support your safety and social contacts and give you more control.
Healthcare technology also has advantages for employees of healthcare institutions. It can make certain activities easier and less stressful. With a view to the future (tightness on the labor market and an aging population), it is important to use more healthcare technology. Think of sensors, detection, sleep observation, apps and robotics.
Cooperation
A number of organizations have joined forces to bring healthcare technology to the attention of all residents of The Hague. A collaboration has arisen between care institutions, welfare organizations, the municipality of The Hague and ROC Mondriaan. This partnership is called Digiredzaam Den Haag.
Traveling with the customer
Together we want to offer healthcare technology based on the demand and needs of citizens, because they are 'our' customers. But there is so much on the market. How do you find and select suitable healthcare technology? How do you get support for installation and use? And how are you going to pay for that? These are all questions that are sometimes difficult to answer. The partners in the partnership try to find an answer to this together.
Knowledge is important
ROC Mondriaan provides various training courses on healthcare technology in the CIV (Centre for Innovative Craftsmanship). One of these is the 4-day training 'Deciding Together'. This training is especially for people who work in healthcare and welfare. To give them tools, so that they can better recognize where technology can be used and inform them about it.
“The material was explained very clearly. I learned a lot of new today.”
Cindy van Spronsen, practical researcher at the CIV, says: 'The participants come in with little or no experience of healthcare technology and are really searching the material. There are many question marks and during the training you become aware of the products and the situations in which you can use them.'
“There is a relaxed atmosphere and pleasant transfer of knowledge”
The first course started in September. A schedule will be sent to the contact persons of the various institutions in November. They can nominate employees for the course in the period January to June 2023.
And after that?
If care employees have followed the course, they can go through a so-called 'customer journey'. A customer journey is a process in which you and a care recipient look at the request for help and whether care technology can be an answer to it. A care requester can be a client of a care institution, but also a resident of The Hague who does not (yet) receive care. If the technological aid is a success, you will look together at how you can purchase the technology and from what budget this can be paid for.
