The Healthcare Innovation Hub has many enthusiastic partners. But who are these partners and what do they contribute? Wim Carabain is director of the Voorall foundation. In this article he explains what Voorall will be doing within the Healthcare Innovation Hub.
Stichting Voorall is an interest group that is committed to promoting accessibility for people with a disability or chronic illness. Voorall provides advice, conducts research and is a knowledge center in the field of accessibility. As director of this foundation, Wim thought it was a logical step to become a partner of the Healthcare Innovation Hub.
Why is Especially part of the Healthcare Innovation Hub?
“Because Voorall is involved in healthcare innovation in various ways. For example, within Voorall we have an innovation team that focuses on testing innovations for accessibility. There will also soon be a healthcare technology lending point at our office. This will be a place where residents of The Hague with disabilities can try out and borrow aids.”
How does Voorall contribute to success?
“Firstly, Voorall will issue advice aimed at accessibility for people with disabilities. Not only will we provide advice on technical innovations, but also on what the hub will look like. Our architect actively checks whether the hub is accessible enough for wheelchair users, for example. We can also contribute in the field of research. We have a large following. For example, if a survey needs to be conducted, we can easily reach our target group. In this way we take on both an advisory role and a practical role.”
What is your vision for the Healthcare Innovation Hub?
“I hope for great new collaborations. That is where the power of the Healthcare Innovation Hub lies. But first we have to think about how we are going to approach this and of course make agreements about how we will implement the collaboration. A joint strategic agenda seems indispensable to me. Part of this is what type of startups will come to the hub. The Healthcare Innovation Hub is a growth diamond and if we put time and energy into it, something beautiful can emerge.”
