There are many possibilities in the field of smart tools in the home. But how do you find the best solution for your situation? The Technology for Home Explorer offers the solution. By answering a few questions, those in need of care, informal caregivers or healthcare professionals receive tailor-made advice.
Not only does the Explorer indicate which aids are applicable to each personal situation, the person in need of care, informal caregiver or professional can also immediately purchase or borrow the aid via the Home Living Guide. Interested parties can read user reviews and current information about the product. They also gain insight into the deliverability and availability at the lending points in The Hague.
Amanda Samuel, project leader of basic infrastructure program Technology for Home: 'The municipality of The Hague will work hard in the coming years to ensure that more and more residents gain knowledge of and access to healthcare technology. The lending points and the Explorer are great ways to introduce residents to smart tools. As a municipality, we believe it is important to devise and deploy new ways within the reach of existing resources that enable residents to continue living independently at home for longer. But at the same time it also eases healthcare workers and informal caregivers in their tasks. The great thing is that the Explorer and the lending points are easy to reach for both professionals and residents of The Hague. In this way, we as a city are working on future-proof (elderly) care for everyone."
Living independently at home for longer
The Municipality of The Hague developed the Explorer in collaboration with Thuisleesgroep. This was preceded by extensive research. For example, the Municipality of The Hague conducted more than a hundred conversations with people in need of care, Thuisleefgroep conducted research at various healthcare institutions and the University of Tilburg drew up a questionnaire. The aim of this research: to find out how citizens of The Hague can continue to live at home for as long as possible with the help of (technological) aids. The Explorer therefore promotes self-reliance and self-management among those in need of care.
How does it work?
Through www.technologievoorthuis.nl/verkenner you can easily use the program. After completing the Explorer, you can contact the municipality with questions. You can also visit one of the lending points in the city for more information about the aids.
