Most people are familiar with video calling on their mobile phone or tablet. But did you know that you can also make video calls via the TV? You can with Femly. With the Femly app, family and friends can at any time make video calls and also send messages, photos or videos. These come directly to the user on the television screen. He or she doesn't have to do anything at all.
To show how it works, Françoise de Goeijen of Femly explained to the volunteers of Technology for the home. Volunteer Wim Baanen was then allowed to try Femly at home for a few weeks. There are a number of things that could be improved, but Wim is very positive. “Thanks to Femly, I have easier contact with my family, without having to do anything. My daughter even showed me her vacation spot and I was able to watch with my grandson who was in the grandstand for Formula 1 in Hungary.”
Many possibilities
Wim thinks that Femly can also be very useful for people who are ill or people with dementia. “Carers, general practitioners and nurses can also benefit from it. With Femly they can always check how things are going and help if necessary.”
