Valerie has had a physical disability since birth. It manifests itself in spasms in her body. For support at home, Valerie uses a smart home system in combination with a telephone and tablet. “The smart home system allows me to use my phone as a remote control for various things. For example, to turn a lamp on and off without having to go to the lamp. In the bedroom I have a curtain that I can operate electrically with the tablet. This allows me to open and close this curtain independently. I also have an electrically operated front door and back door. I can open the door by pressing the tablet. This way I can get in and out of my house independently.”

Smart home system

A smart home system is a system that allows you to remotely control the smart devices in your home. From the couch you can put on your favorite music, switch the television on or off or, like Valerie, open and close curtains.
